How do I know when my septic tank needs emptying?
You should get your septic tank cleaned approximately every 3 years – this can vary depending on a few things such as the size of your tank and how many people live at the premises. Some tell tale signs that your tank needs cleaning are things like smelling or wet areas around the tank and drainage field, overflowing drains, or toilets and sinks that are slow to drain.
How does my septic tank work?
Click here for a comprehensive explanation on how a typical septic tank works.
I've never had any problems with my septic system, why should I pump my septic tank?
The primary function of the septic tank is to separate liquids from solids. Solids are retained in the tank after settling. Digestion of the solids occurs over time; however, the rate of solids accumulation exceeds the rate of solids digestion.

Additionally, not all of the solids are digestible. Therefore, the solids level does rise over several years. A septic tank must be pumped periodically to prevent the solids level from reaching the outlet baffle where they are carried over to the disposal field.

How close do you need to get to the septic tank?
We always try to get as close as we can. We carry approx 40m of hose on each truck but have the ability to reach further than that if the need arises.
Do I need to be home when my septic tank is being cleaned?
No, as along as you do not have blocked drains and we can get access to the property you do not need to be home.  If you have blocked toilet its good to have someone flush the toilet to make sure the blockage has been resolved.
How often should my septic tank be cleaned?
We recommend you clean your septic tank every 3 – 4 years This can vary depending on the size of your household, how many people live in the house, what goes into your tank, the size of your tank and if you recycle greywater.
What do you do with it?
We are unique in that we have our very own ARC approved sewage treatment system which includes a settling pond, weeping wall and mounds of dry matter which get turned regularly, the process also includes a verma caste system where worms are used to break down the final product into fine compost.
What should I expect after the job is done?
In order to properly empty your septic we will need to dig a hole to expose the lid. We will replace both the lid and the earth once we have emptied the tank and will make every effort to leave it as it was.
Will you be able to fit all the contents of our septic tank into your truck in one load?
Yes! Our truck have a 10,000L capacity which will easily fit the contents of your tank.
Do I need to add any products (yeast, enzymes, other over the counter additives) to my septic system?
Digestion of the solids that accumulate within the septic tank is a naturally occurring process. The microbes that drive the digestion process are present in raw sewage at a high enough concentration that supplemental products are not normally necessary.

However, due to large use of antibacterial soaps and other bacteria-killing products, it may be advisable to use bacteria-boosting products.
